Marie StoneyMarie Stoney This collection of works showcases Marie Stoney's paintings from the 70's into the 2000's. Ms. Stoney studied under the influence of the Group of Seven and greatly admired the works of Emily Carr. She was invited by a First Nations Community to live with them while she painted their life in the village. The Mask Series was inspired from those days. The rest of this collection was donated to the Vernon Art Gallery. Many of the paintings in this show represent scenes from around British Columbia and in particular Vancouver Island. A graduate of the University of Victoria and the Vancouver School of Art. Ms. Stoney travelled extensively as she painted but settled in her native British Columbia. |
